Like all good things in life yoga found me when I most needed it. My relationship with yoga began during a deeply tumultuous time years ago- a time where my soul was calling out for certainty, stability, and most importantly a source of self-confidence I could truly call my own. Since those early days, yoga has continued to weave its magic throughout all aspects of my life and has helped shape who I am today. My gratitude for this beautiful and timeless practice continues to bloom with every intentional breath.

I believe that yoga is so much more than a series of poses or a great workout. I believe that by moving our physical form in concert with our breath, we are able to quiet the autopilot loop in our brains and reach the spaces within our minds and our energy that are all too often over-looked or ignored entirely. I believe that within those spaces, we can find our deepest and most authentic selves.

My goal as a teacher for most is to guide students in practice that challenges their curiosity, ignites their energy, and leads them down a road less traveled. “Always a student”

I started practicing yoga in 2011.

I never knew this practice would be something that changed my life, and it did. Yoga has been truly healing and has reawakened my spirit- a reconnection from the disconnection that happens as a result of the disease of addiction. My yoga has given me the gift of mindfulness and grace- the gift of my life back. I completed my yoga teacher training in the winter of 2015, 200 RYT in Detroit Michigan, LifePower Yoga. I continue my Yoga Education regularly and completed my 200hr ERYT as well as 100hr Anatomy courses in Summer 2023.

I am grateful for the opportunity to hold space in beautiful downtown Jackson, Michigan, and for the incredible people in my community.

Rocket/ Flow YTT

Vinyasa RYT

I “did” yoga for the first time during graduate school in 2018. For two years I tried a variety of classes but always felt drawn towards the heat. In 2020 I finished my first YTT training in Hot Flow/Bikyasa with Gabe Azoulay and was teaching one of the busiest yoga classes in southern New Mexico. In 2021 I moved with my wife up to Jackson Michigan while expecting our baby girl, Ellen, and also finished my next YTT in Rocket/Flow with Carson Calhoun. Thanks to Samadhi on Pearl Street, I have a home studio where I teach heated vinyasas in downtown Jackson multiple times a week. Breathing deeply in general has taught me so much about myself, depression, anxiety and change. In my classes we blend intensity with creativity, always giving students a chance to have fun. Though typically fast paced and high energy, Hot Flow is accessible to all. I offer one on one coaching in yoga/fitness too, for those needing something more accessible and tailored to their needs. I like to say that in my classes, we all get a chance to get back to that place before the world got a ahold of you.

Yin Yoga Teacher Cert,

Level 1&2 Trauma Informed Cert.

After many years of practicing Yoga from books, with DVDs and attending Yoga Classes, I eventually completed my 200 Hour Certified Yoga Teacher Training with Breathe Yoga Studio, in Chelsea, MI, in May 2019. I wanted very much to pass on this wonderful practice, to help other people achieve the many benefits from it. Since then, in October 2019, I completed the Level One Yin Yoga Teacher Training. In June 2020, I completed the Level One and Two Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy Teacher Training. I have been teaching Yoga classes at Samadhi Yoga Studio in Jackson, MI since September 2019. As a Yoga teacher, I focus on relieving stress, tension, and anxiety, using a peaceful approach, calming body and mind experience, and a safe space. I typically teach Yin Yoga and Slow Flow Yoga classes. Students report to me that their long-standing injures are healing, their sleep has improved, their bodies are more flexible, and their stress levels have dropped. In Slow Flow Yoga, we flow slowly from one pose to another, giving ourselves time to breathe, notice and feel in each pose, like a moving meditation, listening to our own bodies. Yoga provides wonderful self care for the body and the mind. With an even keel and quiet strength, these practices are accessible for all levels of yogis. With heartfelt thanks to all of the yoga teachers and yoga students who have shared this journey with me….

Peace, Love, and Light.

200 HR YTT

Yoga has been part of my life for over 20 years. During many difficult times in my life yoga kept me sane and was my therapy.  It was so life changing for me that I wanted to share it with my community. I completed my 200 hour YogaFit training in 2018 and have had the privilege to teach in Jackson ever since.
I have experience teaching kettlebell, vinyasa, power and restorative yoga.
Yoga is for everybody and I believe it can change the world!

After teaching group exercise for 16 years, in 2006 I started offering Yoga at the Boos Center. When folks are striving to perfect the pose, we come back to  “It’s only Yoga.  It’s practice, not perfection”.  I try to bring laughter, camaraderie, and fun to my classes.
The health benefits of yoga are something I love sharing. My focus is to help others age with ease by incorporating strength, flexibility, body, and mind awareness in classes.  Body and mind awareness allow us to fit the pose to our bodies not make our bodies fit the pose. My class offerings are vinyasa, slow flow, chair yoga, yin, restorative, Yoga Nidra and walking yoga.
I am a student of Ayurveda and include the teachings of Ayurveda in many of my classes.
My journey is taking me towards completing a Trauma Sensitive 200hr RYT and after that who knows?
I am grateful to have this opportunity to share yoga with the Samadhi family.

Jamie

200-hour RYT

I received my yoga training from One Tribe formerly Bhakti Yoga in Brooklyn, MI in 2016. I teach beginner yoga here at Samadhi and practice easy poses and use basic language to help ease you into the practice of yoga. We play with easy transitions, using props and slow instruction to help you into poses. I have also found a love for restorative and heart opening yoga practices. I hold restorative workshops at Samadhi. Check the latest schedule and workshops to see what’s next!

Amber

200-hour YTT

I took my first yoga class here at Samadhi , and immediately fell in love with the practice. Even though I was new to yoga, something kept nudging me to teach. I took my 200-hour yoga teacher training through One Tribe Yoga in the summer of 2021. I also fell in love with energy healing and received my level one Reiki practitioner certification earlier that year. I have found such peace within yoga, I knew it had to be a permanent part of my life. As a person in recovery, I fought against self for so long, for the first time, my mind, body and soul became aligned, and I felt whole. I will be teaching basic yoga in hopes that we can create space for grace, love, peace and all the other beautiful things we can extend from our mats out into the world.
